Diagnostic algorithm for suspected inflammatory brain diseases in children. All patients need an initial evaluation, including laboratory tests and MRI or angiography. If initial evaluation does not reveal a definitive diagnosis, a targeted evaluation should be performed. Patients not diagnosed after the targeted evaluations require a brain biopsy to confirm diagnosis.
