Cestode eggs
Common cestode eggs recognized on wet mount include:
(A) Taenia solium
(B) Taenia saginata
(C) Hymenolepis nana
(D) Dibothriocephalus latus
(E) Hymenolepis diminuta
(F) Dipylidium caninum
The eggs can be useful for diagnosis, although the primary diagnostic forms are the mature (gravid) proglottids and the scolex. The eggs of Taenia are indistinguishable (A and B).
