Histologic features of plasma cell cheilitis
In plasma cell cheilitis, there is spongiosis and epithelial hyperplasia with atrophy of the suprapapillary epithelium. The lamina propria is filled with sheets of polyclonal plasma cells, sometimes with Russell bodies.
