Verrucous hyperplasia

Verrucous hyperplasia
Distinguishing this lesion from verrucous carcinoma may be difficult. The surface is keratotic, ie, layered with acellular keratin. The absence of downward growth below the level of adjacent uninvolved mucosa helps to exclude verrucous carcinoma.
