Urinary tract in children

These figures show the organs of the urinary tract in a girl and a boy. Urine is made in the kidneys, and then flows down the ureters to the bladder. In a child with vesicoureteral reflux, some urine flows backwards from the bladder towards the kidneys through the ureter.
