Cryptogenic organizing pneumonitis
Cryptogenic organizing pneumonitis
Forty-eight-year-old woman with an eight-week history of cough, dyspnea with exertion, fatigue, and slight weight loss. High-resolution CT scan shows right lower lobe reticular and hazy opacities that are subpleural. This CT pattern is most common in patients with chronic progressive disease and looks similar to that usually seen in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. On lung biopsy, this patient had areas of chronic fibrosis in addition to the predominant pattern of organizing pneumonia.
