The four rotator cuff muscles pictured above serve important functions related to glenohumeral motion and stability. The picture at the top presents an anterior view and shows the subscapularis muscle inserting on the lesser tuberosity. The remaining muscles, seen best in the posterior view shown in the bottom picture, insert at the greater tuberosity.
