ACE inhibitors more effective in White patients than Black patients with heart failure
Shown are the rates of hospitalization for heart failure in a matched cohort analysis from the SOLVD trial comparing the responses of Black patients and matched White patients randomly assigned to enalapril or placebo. The rate of hospitalization for heart failure was significantly higher among Black patients than White patients whether treated with enalapril or placebo. Compared to placebo, White patients but not Black patients had a significant benefit from enalapril therapy.
