Periphepatic packing to control bleeding from the liver
Perihepatic packing compresses the liver tissue from multiple directions by placing laparotomy pads into the space between the diaphragm and liver, between the lateral abdominal wall and liver, and between the liver and hepatic flexure of the colon. Intrahepatic packing should not be used because it can cause increased bleeding.
