MRI in distal basilar artery embolism

MRI in distal basilar artery embolism
T2-weighted images (images A and B) show high signal intensity in the bilateral cerebellar hemispheres (left more than right), pons, and right thalamus. As compared with RPLS, diffusion-weighted images (images C and D) show marked high signal in these regions and ADC maps (images E and F) show low signal consistent with restricted diffusion and infarct.
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; RPLS: reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome; ADC: apparent diffusion coefficient.
