Verrucous carcinoma

Verrucous carcinoma
The warty appearance on visual examination is reflected microscopically by elongated fronds of surface growth. These may occasionally be heavily keratinized. The tumor interface with the underlying connective tissue is relatively blunt ("pushing") and extends below the level of adjacent uninvolved squamous mucosa. There is a lymphoid reaction at the base of the lesion.
