Urostomy

Urostomy
This figure depicts one option for people who have a cystectomy (removal of the bladder) for bladder cancer. With this procedure, called a "urostomy," urine is diverted from the kidneys through a segment of bowel to the skin's surface, where an opening (called a stoma) is created. A bag is attached to the stoma to collect the urine.
