Infant CPR: 2-finger method

Infant CPR: 2-finger method
Pressing on the chest for CPR is called doing "compressions." To do compressions on an infant using the 2-finger method:
  • Make sure the infant is on a flat, solid surface
  • Place the tips of your index and middle fingers on the infant's breastbone, just below the nipples
  • With each compression, make sure the infant's chest drops down at least 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters)
  • Lift all pressure off the infant's chest between compressions, so their chest goes back to where it was
