Apoptotic keratinocytes in the epidermis, vacuolization of the basal layer, and lymphocyte exocytosis are present in this specimen of histologic grade 2 acute graft-versus-host disease. A lymphocytic infiltrate at the dermal-epidermal junction and surrounding blood vessels is also present.
