Pericardial effusion

Parasternal four-chamber view from a two-dimensional echocardiogram shows a massive pericardial effusion (PE) in a patient with hemodynamic compromise and tamponade physiology. The effusion surrounds the left ventricle (LV) and right ventricle (RV) which is severely compressed.
