Ultrasound hip dysplasia
This coronal ultrasound image of the hip demonstrates that the femoral head is less than 50% covered by the bony acetabulum and that the alpha angle measures less than 60°. Normally, the femoral head is greater than 50% covered by the acetabulum, and the alpha angle measures greater than 60°. The alpha angle is formed by the acetabular roof and the vertical cortex of the ilium.
