Analysis adjusted for factors such as cigarette smoking, maternal age, interpregnancy interval, and presence of hypertension or antepartum bleeding.

AGA: weight appropriate for gestational age; SGA: weight small for gestational age (ie, birth weight >2 standard deviations below the mean for gestational age [<2.5^th percentile]); moderately preterm: 32 to 36 weeks of gestation; very preterm: <32 weeks of gestation.
