Construction of an omental flap during pelvic exenteration

Construction of an omental flap during pelvic exenteration
Omentum is freed starting at the hepatic flexure, with a 4- to 6-cm band left attached at the splenic flexure, and the freed omentum is then placed along the left parocolic gutter into the pelvis, where it is stitched into place as a "lid" to keep small bowel out of the pelvic defect.
