Dyspnea (75 to 90%)
Nonproductive cough (50 to 93%)
Chest discomfort
Signs
Fever
Tachypnea
Crackles
Cyanosis
Laboratory
PFTs show reduced lung volumes and DLCO
Oximetry shows decreased oxygen saturation (at rest or on exertion); ABGs show increased alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient
No peripheral blood eosinophilia (except possibly in hypersensitivity-like reaction)
ABGs: arterial blood gases.
