Basic lab tests – Complete blood count, electrolytes, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, AST, ALT, GGT, PT, PTT, urine analysis
ABO blood group typing
Blood for HLA typing
In certain cases, inguinal lymph nodes may be taken to facilitate tissue typing
Microbiologic studies
Microscopy, culture and sensitivity of blood, urine and sputum samples
Viral serology
Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, HIV, HBsAg, HBcAb, hepatitis C virus
Syphilis screening – VDRL or RPR
Additional laboratory tests may be requested by the organ procurement organization.
