Hemorrhagic pleural effusion
Hemorrhagic effusion in patient with malignant mesothelioma. MRI of the chest, sagittal sequence in supine patient. A liquid level is evident, forming a "hematocrit effect." The red blood cells have a high signal due to intracellular methemoglobin.
