Nasal packing sponge for anterior epistaxis

The nasal sponge pack (eg, Merocel, Rhinocell) is inserted directly along the floor of the nasal cavity and can be reexpanded with 10 to 20 mL of saline. The white nasal sponge is held by forceps in the photograph above. A nasal speculum is shown below the forceps.
