Regulation of ventilation

Regulation of ventilation
Relationship between arterial PCO2 (left panel) and PO2 (right panel) and minute ventilation in normal subjects. Stimulation of ventilation occurs with a small rise in PCO2, but requires a large fall in PO2.
PCO2: arterial carbon dioxide tension; PO2: arterial oxyen tension.
