CARG-BC score interpretation

0 to 5 points: 27% risk of Grade 3 to 5 toxicities
6 to 11 points: 45% risk of Grade 3 to 5 toxicities
12 to 24 points: 76% risk of Grade 3 to 5 toxicities

Notes
  • The CARG-BC score was developed to predict toxicity from chemotherapy specifically in older adults with early breast cancer, with better prediction than either the Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) or the more general CARG in this subset. It was developed using data prospectively collected from 473 patients age ≥65 years with stage I to III breast cancer from 16 institutions, treated with neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy.
  • Chemotherapy-related toxicities: Grade 3 = severe; Grade 4 = life-threatening; Grade 5 = fatal.
  • LFTs: liver function tests.

Only digits 0 to 9 and a single decimal point (".") are acceptable as numeric inputs. Attempted input of other characters into a numeric field may lead to an incorrect result.
