Human African trypanosomiasis (HAT): Mott cell in cerebrospinal fluid
A characteristic cerebrospinal fluid finding associated with second-stage HAT is the presence of Mott cells; these are large activated plasma cells with immunoglobulin M-containing eosinophilic inclusions (May-Grunewald Giemsa staining, original magnification ×1000).
