Non-compatibility of medical vacuum and waste anesthetic gas disposal (WAGD) fittings

Non-compatibility of medical vacuum and waste anesthetic gas disposal (WAGD) fittings
These pictures show that a waste anesthetic gas hose from an anesthesia machine will not connect into a vacuum outlet. The panel A shows color coded hoses connected via threaded DISS fittings (arrows) to Chemetron-style quick connect outlets. The top assembly, labeled MEDVAC and color-coded white, is for medical vacuum. The bottom assembly, labeled EVACUATION and color-coded purple, is for waste anesthesia gas disposal (WAGD). Note that the DISS fittings are different sizes and the Chemetron outlets (panel B) have different shapes to prevent cross-connections.
