Oxygen pulse and heart rate during cardiopulmonary exercise testing

Oxygen pulse and heart rate during cardiopulmonary exercise testing
The oxygen pulse (VO2/HR) versus time in a normal individual (green diamonds) is contrasted with that in a patient with cardiovascular limitation (black squares). The black squares demonstrate the early plateau of V̇O2/HR, indicating limitation of cardiac function likely reflecting reduced stroke volume recruitment.
VO2: oxygen uptake; HR: heart rate.
