Right hilar bronchial neuroendocrine tumor, as visualized on integrated PET/CT using gallium Ga-68 DOTATATE as a radiotracer

Right hilar bronchial neuroendocrine tumor, as visualized on integrated PET/CT using gallium Ga-68 DOTATATE as a radiotracer
Integrated PET/CT, using gallium Ga-68 DOTATATE as a radiotracer, on a patient with a typical carcinoid (A) and corresponding CT image (B). An intensely radiotracer-avid (SUV max 37.6) right pulmonary hilar mass (A) nearly obstructs the right mainstem bronchus at the bifurcation to the right upper pulmonary lobe bronchus and right bronchus intermedius. As seen on the corresponding CT image (B), the entire right lung is hyperlucent, consistent with ball-valve-type air trapping.
PET: positron emission tomography; CT: computed tomography; SUV: standardized uptake value.
