Ultrasound Achilles tendon tear

Ultrasound Achilles tendon tear
This ultrasound video clip gives a long-axis view of a ruptured Achilles tendon. The scan moves from the distal tendon insertion proximally. Early in the video and in the adjacent still image, disarrayed tendon fibers and hematoma (arrows) due to the injury can be seen proximal to the normal-appearing fibers near the tendon insertion (asterisk). The calcaneus is seen adjacent to the distal fibers (delta).
