Hidradenitis suppurativa

Hidradenitis suppurativa causes red, swollen, painful bumps to form on the body (panel A). It usually affects areas where the skin rubs together, like the armpit. Over time, the skin hardens and scars around the bumps. Sometimes, tunnels form under the skin (panel B).
