Iliac artery angioplasty-related rupture and treatment

Iliac artery angioplasty-related rupture and treatment
The images demonstrate treatment of an iliac angioplasty-associated rupture. An occluded left external iliac artery was identified on arteriography (A). Following recanalization, angioplasty, and stenting (bare metal), the iliac artery ruptured during post-dilatation of the stent (arrow; B). Extravasation was controlled initially with balloon occlusion (C), and subsequently the iliac artery was treated with a covered stent (D).
