Cheatle slit

Cheatle slit
A Cheatle slit can be cut on the antimesenteric border of the smaller-caliber bowel (in this case ileum) to match it with a larger-caliber bowel (in this case colon) if an end-to-end sutured anastomosis is planned. Alternatively, the size-mismatched bowels can be anastomosed using side-to-end or end-to-end techniques.
