REBOA deployment in abdominal trauma

REBOA deployment in abdominal trauma
A young male was involved in a motor vehicle accident and presented with a systolic blood pressure of 75 mmHg and bilateral pneumothoraces, and was unresponsive to resuscitation. An abdominal FAST exam was positive. REBOA was deployed in zone 1 (arrow), and the patient was taken to the operating room. During abdominal exploration, significant injuries to the spleen, mesentery, and liver were identified and treated.
REBOA: resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta; FAST: focused assessment with sonography for trauma.
