Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) with ground-glass opacities, nodules, and consolidation

Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) with ground-glass opacities, nodules, and consolidation
Atypical presentation of PCP. View of the right upper lobe on high-resolution computed tomography (CT) scan (1-mm collimation) shows ground-glass opacities, multiple nodular opacities, and foci of consolidation. Also noted is a small cavity (arrow). The patient was a 28-year-old man hematopoietic cell transplant recipient. Large nodules and nodular areas of consolidation are an uncommon presentation of PCP. Cavitation is rare.
