Criteria for defining MDR, XDR, and PDR in
Pseudomonas aeruginosa:
- MDR: Non-susceptible to ≥1 agent in ≥3 antimicrobial categories.
- XDR: Non-susceptible to ≥1 agent in all but ≤2 categories.
- PDR: Non-susceptible to all antimicrobial agents listed.
This terminology and these criteria were created by a group of international experts as part of a joint initiative by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
