Ultrasound imaging of a carotid dissection

Intraoperative Duplex ultrasound imaging of the right common carotid artery in short-axis in a patient with an acute Stanford type A aortic dissection demonstrating dissection extending into the right common carotid artery as evidenced by the presence of an intimal flap within the vessel (left panel, arrows).
