Aortic stent zones of attachment

Aortic stent zones of attachment
The figure depicts the possible proximal landing zones of a patient undergoing TEVAR with or without additional branched endografting across the visceral segments and more distally.
  • Zone 0: proximal to the innominate artery origin
  • Zone 1: distal to the innominate but proximal to the left common carotid artery origin
  • Zone 2: distal to the left common carotid artery but proximal to the subclavian artery
  • Zone 3: ≥2 cm of the left subclavian artery without covering it
  • Zone 4: 2 cm distal to the left subclavian artery and ends within the proximal half of the descending thoracic aorta (T6 approximating the midpoint of the descending thoracic aorta)
  • Zone 5: starts in the distal half of the descending thoracic aorta but proximal to the celiac artery
  • Zone 6: celiac origin to the top of the superior mesenteric artery
  • Zone 7: SMA origin, suprarenal aorta
  • Zone 8: at least one renal artery
  • Zone 9: infrarenal
  • Zone 10: common iliac artery
  • Zone 11: external iliac artery
TEVAR: thoracic endovascular aortic repair; SMA: superior mesenteric artery.
