* Clinicians skilled in its performance often perform ultrasound as part of the initial evaluation. If ultrasound examination shows signs of more severe tendinopathy, some clinicians use treatments for recalcitrant cases early, in addition to standard interventions.
ΒΆ Surgery referral is generally not made unless patient has severe pain or marked dysfunction for a minimum of 6 months without improvement despite sound conservative management.
