  • To include the great saphenous, the thrombosis should extend below the knee.
  • Obstruction due to excision, ligation, or trauma to deep venous segments counts in this score system.
  • Obstruction means that there is total occlusion at some point in the segment or >50% narrowing of at least half the segment.
  • The maximum obstruction score is 10.
  • Increasing scores imply more severe disease.
  • The venous segmental disease score for obstruction is a tool to help objectively follow patient response to clinical management.
